Skimmia japonica rubella

Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’ beautiful compact evergreen shrub, this male form produces reddish flowers buds that form from late summer on deep green leaves. These culminate into Dark red flower buds in autumn and hold as buds throughout winter until the flowers open in spring white cream It’s one of the best plants for growing in containers through the winter spring and is unaffected by frosts or use to fill gaps in the your borders where other plants have died down for winter. The plant needs partial shade from full summer sun and requires well drained soil mulch annually with well-rotted manure or compost.
